Article Specification Guidelines

  1. eJozi is editorially controlled: recipes have to be approved by an editor before they go live on our site. There are no guarantees that your recipes will be accepted for publication in our RecipeBook. It is at our sole discretion whether or not to include your recipes.
  2. eJozi reserves the right to remove any recipes at any time and for any reason with or without notice or explanation. In cases where the guidelines are abused, authors will be banned.
  3. Before submitting a recipe, please search the database to ensure your recipe has not already been added by someone else. Published recipes can be deleted at the author’s request.
  4. Recipe submissions that are plagiarized or in violation of another author’s copyright will be removed. Read the section below for more information on our copyright policy.
  5. Recipes must provide useful information and not merely be an advertisement. All submissions in the form of advertisements, testimonials or sales pitches will be rejected. If any recipe seems to be nothing more than an advertisement for a product or website, or only consists of a few lines of text with a link pointing to another site where the recipe supposedly resides it will be rejected.
  6. Submit your recipe to one category only; submissions to multiple categories will be rejected. We reserve the right to choose a more suitable category for your recipe if we find them to be classified wrongly.
  7. All recipe submissions must be written in fluent English or Afrikaans.
  8. Title: Minimum 6 characters and maximum 100 characters. Your title must be relevant to your recipe and may not contain contact information, your name, business name, any website name or otherwise. Titles must NOT be written in all CAPS. The first letter of each word must be capitalized, excluding common words (optional) like ‘the, and, are’ unless it is the first word of your title. An example of a perfect title would be: My Perfect Recipe
  9. Summary: This is not a required field, but it will help people find and understand your recipe more quickly. If you include a summary it should be no more than 4 sentences long and relevant to your recipe.
  10. About Author: Up to 400 characters or roughly 60 words. The About Author box can be used for biographical and copyright information as well as linking to relevant websites. You must include the necessary HTML tags to make any link included here active; simply placing ‘http://www.yoursite.com’ in the text will not generate a live link.

Copyright and Violations

  1. eJozi is a repository of free recipes written by others without verification by us.
  2. Our policy prohibits the use of copyrighted material in a manner that violates the copyright owner’s rights. In general, this means that authors should only submit their own original written work to which they have natural copyright.
  3. In cases where copyright is disputed (usually as a result of plagiarism or unauthorized copying), please Contact Us and we will either, remove the recipe in question immediately upon proof of copyright, OR, ask you if we may use it and change the accreditation. Note eJozi will require proof of copyright based on previous dates and URL’s where the article in question was previously published by you.
  4. Copyright resides with the authors who submit to our directory, not with us. As a consequence, eJozi has no legal standing to enforce copyright on behalf of authors. If a user violates copyright, the ultimate responsibility and expense to take any action against that user will rest with the author.
  5. In the event of copyright violation, we advise authors to exercise their rights under the The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 by taking the following steps:
    • Contact the offending party directly asking them to rectify the copyright violation.
    • If the above fails, contact the ISP that hosts the offending website and the domain registrar that holds the registration for the website domain. (Information for the domain registrar and hosting service can generally be obtained by doing a lookup using any WhoIs service such as http://www.whois.net.)
    • Most Domain Registrars and ISPs will respond to a copyright enforcement request by warning or suspending the offending party. If they fail to do so, have a lawyer make the same request in writing. This last action rarely fails to produce results.
