Crumbed Anchovies 

Crumbed anchovies, a delicious, salty treat to serve as part of an antipasto tray or with drinks. If you can’t get anchovies, replace with 400g fresh OR frozen sardines.

Ingredients
  • 400 g fresh OR frozen anchovies

  • 50 ml flour

  • 1 egg

  • 12,5 ml milk

  • 125 ml dry breadcrumbs

  • oil for frying

  • coarse OR Kosher salt

Method
  1. Dust anchovies with flour

  2. Beat egg and milk

  3. Dip anchovies in this mixture, then roll them in breadcrumbs

  4. Deep-fry in hot oil, and drain on absorbent paper

  5. Sprinkle with coarse salt and serve immediately.
