The perfect end to any meal, dessert recipes are a traditional sweet course and the favourite of young and old alike. There are countless dessert recipes available to satisfy any sweet tooth, including: pies, puddings, custards and mousses. While some dessert recipes are elaborate and others are simplistic, all of them provide a tasty finish to any meal.

Because it’s the last thing people will remember about a meal, a dessert’s presentation is critical. Serve these treats on small plates that do not detract from the food itself and embellish the dish with a light sauce, sprig of mint, or similar item. Be sure that the dessert servings are neat (crisp slices, uniform portions, symmetrical shapes) and that they are centered on the serving dishes. Contrasting colours also make stunning accents: add a raspberry or white chocolate purée to garnish a slice of chocolate cake, for example. Whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cookie crumbs, sprinkles, and sugared nuts also make easy and beautiful toppings and embellishments for many different desserts.
